American Homeboy is a documentary film that explores the untold history of Pachuco and cholo culture (cars, art, politics) against the backdrop of failed government policies throughout the 20th century. The film draws parallels with current events and gives context to many longstanding stereotypes, while highlighting Chicano culture’s contribution to American pop culture. Ultimately, American Homeboy is not a film that glorifies or condemns pachuco and cholo culture, but rather contextualizes it.
